'Unforgettable' season 5 news update: A&E cancels show after season 4
Fans of Senior Detective Carrie Wells (Poppy Montgomery) and Lieutenant Al Burns (Dylan Walsh) will no longer see them in the police procedural series "Unforgettable." After the show completed its fourth season in January, the A&E channel reportedly decided to cancel its acquisition of the fifth season.
This as the third time the show was abolished. "Unforgettable" started in CBS in 2011 but was cancelled in May 2012 after its first season. A month after, CBS opted for another contract and telecast the succeeding two seasons in summer of 2013 and 2014. However, CBS cancelled the show again for the second time.
The show was then transferred to A&E network to continue its fourth season but, as reported by Deadline, is no longer going to be continued into season 5.
The show is about an NYPD detective who has hyperthymesia. Like a blessing in disguise, Detective Wells is able to maximize her unique photographic memory in solving the high risk criminal cases in New York.
Also known as HSAM (Highly Superior Auto-biographical Memory), Hyperthymesia is rare condition of the brain wherein the patient has the ability to recall every detail of his or her life. People with such condition know each detail of whatever circumstance they have encountered. It seems like there is a photographic recorder in their brain and each scene is retained in their memory.
Actress Marilu Henner, also known to have this highly superior auto-biographical memory, became a consultant for this show and also appeared as Carrie's aunt.
CBS Television Studios and Sony Pictures Television co-produced this drama series. The executive producers were Ed Redlich, John Belluci, Carl Beverly and Sarah Timberman.
