Kanye West on Twitter update: Own ego is rapper's 'number one enemy'
"My number one enemy has been my ego... there is only one throne and that's God's ..."
This was a tweet by Kanye West on Feb. 17. It seems that the rapper has mellowed down a bit, following his series of posts in the previous days.
Last weekend, West posted a passionate plea to his fans on Twitter, saying: "I write this to you my brothers while still 53 million dollars in debt..Please pray we overcome."
He then segued into another controversial tweet asking Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg to invest $1 billion into his ideas because, according to West's own words, Zuckerberg realized "he is the greatest living artist and greatest artist of all time."
The tweets came after he debuted two of his songs, "Young Thug" and "Ultra Light Beams" from his new album, "The Life of Pablo," on "Saturday Night Live." After singing "Ultra Light Beams" on the show, he told his fans that they could grab a copy of his new album on his website and on Tidal. However, many fans expressed their disappointment on Twitter regarding having to buy a Tidal subscription. They replied to the rapper's tweets by questioning him why he didn't put it on iTunes or Spotify instead of making it exclusive on Tidal.
Not new to controversy, West then made a follow-up announcement on his Twitter account, saying that he decided to postpone the release of his new album for another week and urged his fans to subscribe to Tidal. Those who visited West's website to buy his new album were more disappointed because they were greeted by an audio message from someone called Yasiin Bey instead of finding the album.
West's efforts seems to have paid off, nonetheless, because he expressed his thanks to his fans just hours after he made those controversial announcements. In his tweet, he thanked his fans for signing up to Tidal and making it the number one app in the world.
