Another major star is joining the cast of the fifth season of popular horror anthology "American Horror Story," and she is a familiar face.

According to a report on TVLine.com, "American Horror Story" series creator Ryan Murphy announced on his official Twitter account that Emmy-nominated Angela Bassett will be part of Season 5, which be entitled "Hotel."

Murphy did not provide details on the character that Bassett will play in the upcoming season of "American Horror Story," although he hinted that she will play a villainous role, and will be working with pop star Lady Gaga.

"In October, Angela Bassett will be making lots of trouble with Lady Gaga in the ballroom and elsewhere. #ahshotel," Murphy said in a tweet last Thursday.

Bassett is not new to the "American Horror Story" franchise. She first joined the FX horror series in its third season, "Coven," where she portrayed Voodoo queen Marie Laveau.

Her portrayal earned her a nomination in the Primetime Emmy Awards for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Miniseries or a Movie.

During the recently concluded fourth season, "Freak Show," Bassett played a minor role, the feisty, three-breasted woman working in the circus named Desiree Dupree.

Bassett joins other "American Horror Story" veterans in the cast, including Sarah Paulson, Kathy Bates and Evan Peters.

Other confirmed cast members of "American Horror Story: Hotel" include Lady Gaga, Matt Bomer, Cheyenne Jackson, Wes Bentley and Chloe Sevigny.

The "American Horror Story" franchise's biggest star, veteran actress Jessica Lange, however, recently announced that she will not return for the fifth season.

"American Horror Story: Hotel" will start filming this summer in Los Angeles, and is expected to debut on our television screens this coming October 2015.
