CHARLOTTE, N.C. (Christian Examiner) – Campus Pride, a Charlotte, N.C., activist group focused on advancing the gay rights agenda on college campuses, has issued a "shame list" of colleges which are not LGBT-friendly.

Not surprisingly, numerous Christian Colleges adorn the list.

According to the group, the list contains 102 names of colleges or universities that "openly discriminate" against lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, questioning or sexually confused students in their policies and programs.

If your values and religious belief system include bigotry or discrimination toward any group of people, put it in your Admissions brochure. Otherwise, Campus Pride will do it for you.

Campus Pride claims "most people" are shocked when they discover that there are a handful of colleges that "use religion as a tool for cowardice and discrimination."

Shane Windmeyer, executive director of the group, said the list "uncovers the religion-based bigotry that is harmful and perpetuated against LGBTQ youth on these campuses."

"Discrimination," according to Campus Pride, is defined as a school actively prohibiting homosexual or other abnormal sexual behavior, or obstructing pro-LGBT policies (such as the open use of restrooms by transgender students) by seeking a Title IX waiver.

Campus Pride said that it researched and compiled the list, but the work couldn't have been difficult. The U.S. Department of Education publishes all requests from colleges for Title IX waivers and their responses to those requests.

Windmeyer said the campuses named to the list were "dangerous for vulnerable LGBTQ youth and others."

Campus Pride said this was the first time it had published a list of the worst schools for LGBTQ youth, though it said in the same news release that it published a previous iteration in December 2015. It annually publishes a "Best of the Best" list of pro-LGBT colleges, as does Princeton.

For those schools on the list, Windmeyer has a message: comply with the government's directive, or else.

"If your values and religious belief system include bigotry or discrimination toward any group of people, put it in your Admissions brochure. Otherwise, Campus Pride will do it for you," he said.

Some of the schools on the list include Asbury Theological Seminary, Azusa Pacific University, Biola University, California Baptist University, Charleston Southern University, George Fox University, Mississippi College, Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary, Union University and Wheaton College.
