'X-Men: Apocalypse' release date, spoilers update: Evan Peters on time-bending sequence and Quicksilver's relationship with Magneto
Quicksilver (Evan Peters) had little screen-time in the previous X-Men film, "X-Men: Days of Future Past," but he was in one of that's film highlights: the much-talked-about speedster sequence in which the new X-Men recruit stops some soldiers from capturing Magneto (Michael Fassbender), Wolverine (Hugh Jackman), and Charles Xavier (James MacAvoy) by re-positioning their bullets in mid-air and making them hit each other.
After the success of that scene, it comes as no surprise that Quicksilver reportedly plays a larger role in the upcoming "X-Men: Apocalypse" and that director Bryan Singer spent more than a month and a half filming the character's new time-bending sequence for that film.
Peters recently opened up to Collider about "Apocalypse," his character's relationship with Magneto, and how Quicksilver has matured since "Days of Future Past."
"He's kind of matured a little bit," the actor said. "He's gotten into music a little bit. Cleaned it up a little bit. He's not quite the klepto that he was when you first saw him. He's kind of chilled out a little bit with that."
As for the mutant's relationship with Magneto, his father, who also happens to be one of main villain Apocalypse's (Oscar Isaac) minions in the film, Peters revealed: "Yeah, that does confuse things. I have learned that he's my father at this point..."
"I think he understands why Eric is the way that he is and does these things," he said. "I think he has a lot of sympathy for him and empathy and knows what he's going through and is trying to help him really."
The latest X-Men film is set in the 1980s and picks up roughly 10 years after the events in "Days of Future Past." Apart from Peters and Fassbender, "X-Men: Apocalypse" also sees the return of James MacAvoy as Professor X, Jennifer Lawrence as Mystique, Nicholas Hoult as Beast, Lucas Till as Havok, and Rose Byrne as Moira MacTaggert. The film also stars Olivia Munn as Psylocke, Alexandra Shipp as Storm, Ben Hardy as Angel, Sophie Turner as Jean Grey, Ty Sheridan as Cyclops, and Lana Condor as Jubilee.
"X-Men: Apocalypse" is in theaters on May 27.
