'X-Men: Apocalypse' spoilers: Director reveals scene that took a month and a half to film
Director Bryan Singer has revealed which of the scenes in the much-anticipated "X-Men: Apocalypse" was the most challenging to film. On Monday, Feb. 8, the director posted a photo of a Quicksilver (Evan Peters) sequence from the upcoming movie and captioned it:
"You can have fast or cute ... FYI this scene with #evanpeters as #quicksilver took one and a half months for a less than 3 minute sequence resulting in Evan working longer than any other actor on the film. Thanks Evan and #ryanmurphy @ahsfx for accommodating!"
In "X-Men: Apocalypse," just like in "X-Men: Days of Future Past" (2014), Peters plays the role of Peter Maximoff aka Quicksilver, a mutant who can move at lightning speed. He also happens to be the son of Magneto (Michael Fassbender).
Quicksilver's speedster sequences are some of the most highly-anticipated scenes in "X-Men: Apocalypse." His super-speed sequence in "Days of Future Past" was one of the highlights of the film and, as such, Singer and his crew must have worked hard to create a Quicksilver scene for the upcoming film that will outdo the first. Based on the trailers for "Apocalypse," the Quicksilver sequence in Singer's photo takes place inside the X Mansion, as the new X-Men recruit tries to rescue Professor X (James MacAvoy) from Apocalypse (Oscar Isaac) and his Four Horsemen.
"X-Men: Apocalypse" is set 10 years after the events in "Days of Future Past." It stars Isaac as the powerful mutant Apocalypse, who plans to rid the world of all humans and leads his followers Magneto, Psylocke (Olivia Munn), Storm (Alexandra Shipp), and Angel (Ben Hardy) in attempting to do so. They meet resistance from Charles Xavier, who has built a new team of superheroes that includes Jean Gray (Sophie Turner), Cyclops (Ty Sheridan), and Jubilee (Lana Condor).
The film features the return of MacAvoy's Professor X, Fassbender's Magneto, Peters' Quicksilver, Nicholas Hoult's Beast, Jennifer Lawrence's Mystique, Lucas Till's Havok, and Rose Byrne's Moira MacTaggert.
"X-Men: Apocalypse" hits theaters on May 27.
