After reportedly assembling a group of writers to plot out the next decade in the "Transformers" movie franchise, Paramount Pictures and Hasbro recently announced the release dates for the next three "Transformers" films. The new movie release schedule has one new film from the franchise premiering every year from 2017 to 2019.

Now, the studio has also revealed that the second movie in the announced schedule will, in fact, be a spin-off film for the beloved yellow Autobot Bumblebee, who has a massive fanbase among younger "Transformers" viewers. Meanwhile, "Transformers 6," which continues the storyline from "Transformers: Age of Extinction" and the forthcoming "Transformers 5," will be released in 2019.

In a statement to ComicBook.com, Hasbro said, "On June 8, 2018, a new film is being developed which will tell the never before heard story of Bumblebee, one of the most beloved characters from Hasbro's Transformers universe."

During an investor conference call for Toy Fair earlier this month, Hasbro's Transformers franchise leader Tom Warner confirmed that the 2018 release will be a film about Bumblebee. Warner said, as quoted by ComingSoon.net: "This summer we worked closely with a talented team of A-list screenwriters to map out the future of the Transformers cinematic universe, and as Brian announced earlier, things kick off in a major way in 2017 with the release of Transformers 5 in June. And we're working on a spin-off movie centered around Bumblebee for 2018 and the next chapter for 2019."

"Transformer 5" has been confirmed for a June 23, 2017 release. The Bumblebee spin-off hits theaters on June 8, 2018. "Transformers 6," meanwhile, lands in cinemas on June 28, 2019.

While Michael Bay has confirmed that he will return to direct the fifth "Transformers" film, there has been no word on who will helm the two other installments.
