'Thor: Ragnarok' spoilers, plot news: Major character death rumored; will the Hulk be more verbal?
By now, fans of Thor (Chris Hemsworth) and the Hulk (Mark Ruffalo) know that the two are set to deepen their comedic odd-couple pairing in "Thor: Ragnarok," with Ruffalo calling the forthcoming film "a universal road movie." But how much of the two Avengers' interaction will involve speech and will the Hulk finally be more verbal in the third "Thor" stand-alone film?
"I think we all want that," director Taika Waititi recently told HitFlix. "I think we all want to see that development and the evolution of that character. I also think you can do it in a fun way."
"It's interesting, because at the moment, there's a big conversation that's happening about how far to push that. Whether or not the Hulk should be [verbal/conscious]," he revealed.
In the interview, Waititi admitted that the decision to make the Hulk fully conversational or not depends on a larger group of people - not just him or the film's writers. Waititi reminded fans that any modifications made to the Hulk has to tie in with the stories of the future Marvel Cinematic Universe films in which the character appears.
"I think a lot of those conversations have more to do with what's going to come up in future movies," the director said.
Meanwhile, Latino Review claims to have a major exclusive spoiler from "Thor: Ragnarok," which sees a new main villain, Hela (rumored to be played by Cate Blanchett), taking over Asgard. According to the website's report, Thor will attempt to stop Hela but will be no match for her. She will supposedly smash Thor's hammer, Mjolnir, and kill one of his friends, the all-seeing gatekeeper Heimdall (Idris Elba).
The rumor appears to tie in with Elba's previous comments on the making of "Thor 2" (it was "torture," he said) and to Thor's Scarlet Witch-induced vision in "Avengers: Age of Ultron" (2015). In it, Thor finds himself in the Norse Underworld and is greeted by Heimdall, who says: "Oh, they see everything. They see you leading us to Hel."
"Thor: Ragnarok" is set to hit movie theaters on Nov. 3, 2017.
