Popular cable television show "The Walking Dead" returned to our screens on Sunday, with its characters setting out for a new location.

Prior to the episode, AMC released a video of the first two minutes of the show's mid-season premiere, which dropped hints on what fans could expect for the new season.

The premiere of second half of The Walking Dead's fifth season was directed by Greg Nicotero, who has long been directing episodes for the show.

With Nicotero at the helm, fans obviously received lots of amazing special effects depicting guts and gore, as well as choreographed fight scenes with zombies.

The show returned after the death of one of its main characters, Beth.

One of the main difficulties the show's characters face is the zombie infestation in their location, Atlanta.

A report on CBS6 outlined how "The Walking Dead" gang, led by main protagonist Rick Grimes, will set out on the road towards a new location during the midseason premiere.

This new location, according to the report, is most probably Richmond, Virginia.

The teaser for the midseason premiere showed one of the survivors, Noah, telling Grimes about being from "near Richmond." Noah also expressed intention to go back to his home town, with Atlanta being overrun with "walkers."

Grimes then tells his fellow survivors that he knows of a safe community in Richmond where they can stay.

The CBS6 report also quoted "The Walking Dead" cast member Chad Coleman, who plays Tyrese in the series, as saying that "the prodigal child returns home."

Coleman hails from Richmond, Virginia.
