Samsung Galaxy S6, S6 Edge Release Date: Specs, Features Review and Summary
South Korean multinational company Samsung has unveiled two of its newest flagship phone, the Samsung S6 and the Samsung S6 Edge, which are seen as many as the firm's direct answer to Apple's iPhone 6.
According to a report posted on The Huffington Post website, Samsung introduced its newest products at the Mobile World Congress held in Barcelona, Spain.
Both the Samsung S6 and the Samsung S6 Edge have 5.1-inch screens. This size is slightly bigger that the screen of the iPhone 6, which measures 4.7 inches, but smaller than the iPhone 6 Plus' 5.5-inch screen.
The Samsung S6 Edge, which will be sold at a higher price, features a screen curved to its sides, providing users with at-a-glance notifications.
For the newest version of its Android phones, Samsung deviated from its previous design which involved plastic bodies. This time, the bodies Samsung Galaxy S6 smartphones will be made with metal, making them a little similar to the color of iPhone's aluminum black.
Although Samsung changed the material used for the bodies of its newest smartphones, the Samsung S6 is still light at 138 grams, while the S6 Edge is at 132 grams, based on specifications published by Android Central.
Another major change to the design of the Samsung S6 devices compared to earlier versions of the Android phone is the built-in battery. Earlier Samsung smartphones have removable batteries.
The newest phones will also not have slots for MicroSD storage cards.
According to TechCruch, the new Samsung phones will be available starting April 10. The latest phones will be have three storage options: 32GB, 64GB, and 128GB.
