Canadian science-fiction television show "Orphan Black" will return in April for its third season, which promises new twists and more challenges to its protagonists.

BBC America released on Monday the complete trailer of Orphan Black's third season, which indicated that the show will be back on television screens on April 18.

The trailer shows hints on the fate of the different clone portrayed by Tatiana Maslany after the second season's finale, described by Rolling Stone as one of the 20 Best TV Moments of 2014.

The sci-fi series' main clone, Sarah, was shown dealing with the fallout of the events of the last season.

One of the biggest revelations in the trailer was the admission of Sarah's foster mother, Mrs. S (played by Maria Doyle Kennedy), that she played a role in the kidnapping of one of the clones, Helena. The betrayal causes Sarah to express outrage towards Mrs. S.

Helena, the eclectic Ukranian clone, was meanwhile shown being freed from a wooden box, and subsequently being detained in what looks like a military facility.

The clones confront Helena's kidnapping as they strive to save one of their own, Cosima, who is suffering from a genetic disease.

Aside from following the lives of the female clones, Orphan Black's third season will also explore villainous male clones (played by Ari Millen).

The new male clones, produced through the so-called "Project Castor," include an intellectual, a sociopath and a military man.

According to another article on Rolling Stone, Season Three will include new cast additions, such as Season Three will also feature new cast additions like Shameless actor Justin Chatwin, True Blood's James Dominic Frain and Black Swan's Ksenia Solo.
