'Miracles from Heaven' release date news: Premiere set for March 16
Sony Pictures is coming out with a new film titled "Miracles from Heaven," featuring "Alias" star Jennifer Garner, this March.
The film is a true story based on the memoir of the same title, written by Christy Beam (Garner), who tells the story of her daughter's struggle with a rare digestive disorder.
The beginning of the trailer shows the family having a good life. One night, however, their daughter Anna (Kylie Rogers) screams in pain. Christy and her husband Kevin (Martin Henderson) soon find out that Anna has a rare, incurable disease.
The teaser does not give more details on how the family deals with the illness or how they search for a solution. However, there are moments when everything seems hopeless but the couple continue to encourage one another to hold on to their faith to keep believing that there will be a solution.
Another tragedy happens after Anna returns home: She goes out to play with her sister, climbing the huge old tree in their yard. While they are up 30 feet from the ground, hanging on to one of the big branches, the branch accidentally breaks and sends Anna to the ground.
This second tragedy turns out to be a blessing in disguise. The doctor tells Christy that the accident mysteriously healed Anna's rare disease. Upon hearing this, Christy cannot believe how this accident ''did not kill, nor paralyze" her daughter. This second tragedy even heals her and brings joy to the family.
Making the film has made a great impact on the actress that she now regularly attends church with her children.
Garner said in an interview with Good Morning Texas, "There was something about doing this film and talking to my kids about it and realizing that they were looking for the structure of church every Sunday and so it was a great gift of this film that it took us back to finding our local Methodist church and going every Sunday. It's so sweet!"
And for some spoilers, Garner mentioned in the same interview that Anna actually went to heaven and the lead actress even revealed a portion of the movie that she especially liked. She mentioned some lines in the movie that really spoke to her heart.
She narrated a scene where Christy told her pastor, "You know I just don't understand, I don't know where my faith is right now..."
Then her pastor said, "You know, everyone's gonna struggle, and I look at it this way, I've struggled with faith and I've struggled without it, and I tell you, it's a whole lot easier with"
"Miracles from Heaven" will be in theaters on March 16.
