Kendrick Lamar and J. Cole new album release date postponed due to J. Cole and Drake summer tour?
Rumors have been swirling that rappers Kendrick Lamar and J. Cole are getting ready to drop a collaborative album called "Reminiscing," with previous reports indicating that the joint offering will be released on Feb. 16. Now, fans who have been patiently waiting for the album for the last few years may have to wait just a little bit more, as new reports claim that the album release will be delayed because J. Cole is supposedly going on a summer tour with Canadian rapper Drake.
"There's a rumor that I heard that there's gonna be an announcement this week of a Drake and J. Cole summer tour," media executive Ebro Darden said on Hot 97's "Ebro in the Morning" radio show last week.
Should this joint summer tour push through, many expect that the "Reminiscing" release will be pushed back to later in the year.
J. Cole and Kendrick Lamar have been teasing a joint album as far back as 2011. In late 2015, the rappers sent fans into a speculation frenzy when they each dropped a remix of the other's tracks in a package called "Black Friday." More recently, Kayla Duckworth, Kendrick's sister, reportedly revealed the drop date for the possible full-length joint album, saying that fans should mark Feb. 16 on their calendars.
"Go checkout my brother @kendricklamar song 'Black Friday' gift to you guys its definitely some [fire emoji] as usual! But go listen to it you won't regret it I promise! Collab drop #Feb16 so be on the look out as well [emojis] and also if you hadn't noticed I did a very small part at the end, you have to start someone right. Neither Kendrick Lamar nor J. Cole has released official word about their collaborative project's release date.
