American political drama television series "House of Cards" returned to Internet video streaming site Netflix this week with its highly anticipated third season, which promises more surprises for fans of the show.

Netflix released all 13 episodes of the new season of "House of Cards" on February 27, more than a year after the debut of its second season.

The new season of the television series still features Oscar-nominated actor Kevin Spacey as the ruthless and cutthroat politician, Frank Underwood, who will do everything to stay in power.

According to a recap on Entertainment Weekly, the third season will focus on Underwood's beleaguered presidency six months after he caused the impeachment and conviction of his predecessor.

President Underwood is faced with very little public support, and an adversarial Congress who will not act on his priority legislations.

Aside from these, Underwood's wife, Claire (played by actress Robin Wright), is pressuring him to approve and endorse her nomination as American ambassador to the United States.

The anti-hero of "House of Cards," however, has a bigger challenge coming his way: with only 18 months before the elections, he has to secure support from his doubtful allies to ensure that he will stay in power.

The new season will also tackle the struggle of Underwood's chief of staff, Doug Stamper (played by Michael Kelly) to recover and go back to work at the White House after he was hit by a woman who threatens to bring down the presidency.

Another thing to watch out for in the new season of "House of Cards" is an appearance from controversial Russian feminist punk rock protest group "Pussy Riot." The group will appear in the early episodes of Season 3, according to Mashable.com.
