Heroes Reborn air date, latest news: Hiro Nakamura to return for new series
A fan favorite is coming to the reboot of NBC's popular sci-fi series, "Heroes."
Japanese-American actor Masi Oka has confirmed that he will reprise his role, the lovable space and time traveler Hiro Nakamura, in the upcoming miniseries "Heroes Reborn."
Oka, who was nominated for both a Golden Globe and an Emmy for his role in "Heroes," has expressed excitement to be part of "Heroes Reborn."
"I'm excited to return to my 'Heroes' roots. Hiro Nakamura was such an inspirational role to play, and I'm hoping the fans will enjoy seeing him back on TV," Oka was quoted by variety.com as saying.
In a separate article posted on deadline.com, "Heroes" creator Tim Kring highlighted the importance of Oka's characters to fans and to the series.
"The character of Hiro Nakamura was such a huge part of the first series' success, and a gigantic fan favorite. We felt the fans would really love seeing him back in action again," Kring was quoted as saying.
Aside from Oka, another cast member of the original "Heroes" series has earlier been announced to be joining the reboot: Jack Coleman. He plays Noah Bennet, the man with the horn-rimmed glasses who also has a central role in the original series.
New cast members will meanwhile include Zachary Levi, Ryan Guzman, Robbie Kay, Gatlin Green, Judith Shekoni, Danika Yarosh, Kiki Sukezane, and Henry Zebrowski.
"Heroes Reborn," which will have 13 episodes, will premiere this fall on NBC.
The network's digital platforms and video streaming site Hulu will meanwhile carry an online prequel to "Heroes Reborn" before the premiere of the miniseries.
