'Gilmore Girls' revival cast news: Vanessa Marano, Milo Ventimiglia, Emily Kuroda reprising roles; Sutton Foster is first new face

Stars Hollow is beginning to fill up for the forthcoming "Gilmore Girls" revival. A few more residents ? including one of the least-liked characters to ever set foot in the fictional small town ? have been confirmed to appear in the Netflix revival event. Moreover, a new cast member, the first to be announced, moves in.

Milo Ventimiglia, who played the role of Jess Mariano, one of Rory Gilmore's (Alexis Bledel) ex-boyfriends and the nephew of diner owner Luke Danes (Scott Patterson), has confirmed that he will be joining the revival cast. On Thursday, Feb. 11, the actor tweeted a photo of his copy of the "Gilmore Girls" script, captioning it: "What a great time to get back on set with some friends."

Ventimiglia did not reveal which of the revival event's four episodes he will appear in.

Another "Gilmore Girls" veteran making her way back to Stars Hollow is actress Emily Kuroda, who played the role of Mrs. Kim, the mother of Rory's best friend Lane (Keiko Agena).

Meanwhile, Variety has learned that "Switched at Birth" star Vanessa Marano has signed up to reprise her role as Luke's daughter, April Nardini. The character earned the collective hatred of "Gilmore Girls" fans when she became the reason for Luke and Lorelai Gilmore's (Lauren Graham) split in the show's sixth season. Even Marano admitted that she wasn't fond of April.

"I kind of hated April Nardini, too, as a fan of the show," the actress told E! News. "She broke up Luke and Lorelai!"

Nevertheless, in October 2015, Marano expressed that she was hoping that April would be included in the limited revival event, saying, "I really hope they're bringing my character back because I'm such a fan of the Gilmore Girls that ... I just want to be able to nerd out more." 

In addition to its original cast, "Gilmore Girls" has announced the first new face to appear in the Netflix revival. According to TVLine, "Younger" actress Sutton Foster will join the revival series in an as-yet-undisclosed role.

Recently, Liza Weil (Paris Geller) and Matt Czuchry (Logan Huntzberger) also confirmed that they had signed up for the "Gilmore Girls" revival.

The forthcoming Netflix limited event will consist of four 90-minute episodes and will pick up eight years from the "Gilmore Girls" season 7 finale. Production is reportedly underway in Los Angeles.

No official release date has been announced for the upcoming show.
