Musical drama television series "Empire" just ended its first season recently with record-breaking ratings, and its showrunners are now promising more conflict and more star power in its highly anticipated second season, which has been confirmed, although the Season 2 release date has not yet been confirmed. Rumors anticipate that the new season could be arriving as early as Fall 2015, although others claim a 2016 date is more likely.

According to an article on Deadline, the first season finale of "Empire" was watched by 16.7 million adults, making it the most watched new television series in the past 10 years.

With the conclusion of the first season, fans are already eager to learn what will happen to their favorite characters in the smash hit.

In a separate interview with Deadline, "Empire" co-creator Danny Strong said the conceptualization phase for the second season has only just begun.

"We only have vague notions for next season. I mean, we were just discussing it, and we're just starting to break the season right now," Strong said.

"I'm just not so crazy about talking about what we're doing next season because the process is literally just beginning," he added.

Strong nevertheless assured that the next season will feature more conflict among characters, caused by the decision of the main character, Lucious, to name a successor to Empire.

"Next season we're still going to see some conflicts because of the decision, but this whole season was about who was going to inherit the empire, and we felt like we needed to pay it off, but it was also very logical under these circumstances," Strong told The Hollywood Reporter.

"Empire" co-creator also confirmed to Access Hollywood that two big stars will have guest appearances in the second season: Oprah and Common.
