Ed Sheeran new album 2016 news update: New song to premiere in a movie?
English singer-songwriter Ed Sheeran is on his way to releasing his third album.
Ten weeks ago, the "Photograph" singer posted about his hiatus on Instagram, saying that he would rather see the world with his own eyes than through a screen. He also added that his third album will be the best thing he's made.
There's still no update on the official date for the album's release, but one of its tracks, "Brother's Blood," might be first heard in the upcoming comedy "The Brothers Grimsby." The song is said to be co-written by Sheeran with Benny Blanco, known for working with Rihanna and Justin Beiber.
A report by The Sun said that this song will not be available for download or streaming, not even featured in the said movie's soundtrack -- it will only be heard if Sacha Baron Cohen, a friend of Sheeran's, plays it while promoting the movie, and when audience hear it in the cinemas.
An unknown source told the paper: "Sacha and Ed have become big pals over the past few years. During Ed's early days Sacha wasn't really familiar with his work. He had no idea who he was when they were introduced. But they're both creative geniuses and have an obvious connection on that front, agreeing to help each other out where possible."
"The Brothers Grimbsy" is set to hit the theaters on March 11. The movie also stars Mark Strong ("Kingsman: The Secret Service"), Isla Fisher ("Now You See Me"), Rebel Wilson ("Pitch Perfect 2"), and Penelope Cruz ("Zoolander 2").
Ed Sheeran's 2014 album "x" just hit its total sales of 2.04 million according to Nielsen Music via Billboard. Sheeran also won his first Grammy this year, winning Song of the Year for "Thinking Out Loud."
