Bobbi Kristina Coma Latest News Update: Whitney Houston's daughter found unconscious in bathtub
ATLANTA – Bobbi Kristina, the 21-year-old daughter of late singer Whitney Houston, was found face down in her bathtub Saturday and has been hospitalized and is reportedly breathing with the help of a ventilator. Her father, singer Bobby Brown, asked Sunday for privacy regarding his and his late his daughter.
"Privacy is requested in this matter. Please allow for my family to deal with this matter and give my daughter the love and support she needs at this time," said Bobby Brown in a statement issued by his lawyer Christopher Brown.
Paramedics responded to a call from Bobbi Kristina's husband Nick Gordon that she was "drowning" at her Georgia home, TMZ reported. When they arrived, they found her unresponsive, though she was able to be revived at the hospital.
The incident is eerily similar to the circumstances that led to her mother's death three years ago. Houston, a superstar who battled substance abuse, drowned in a bathtub in Beverly Hills, California, on February 11, 2012. Authorities have said cocaine use and heart disease contributed to her death.
When Brown was found, Nick Gordon and a friend began CPR and police continued life-saving measures, the Roswell Police Department told Reuters. She is currently in a medically-induced coma at North Fulton Hospital, and her brain activity has been "significantly diminished," a source close to the family told various media outlets.
Neither Brown's father nor the hospital would confirm the reports, though they did say she is fighting for her life on Monday.
In January 2014, Brown married Gordon, who was also raised but never adopted by Houston, one of the best-selling recording artists of all time.
Both of Bobbi Kristina's parents struggled with substance abuse, and Houston described their 15-year marriage, which ended in 2007, as drug- and alcohol-fueled. Bobby Brown was sentenced to 55 days in jail in 2013 after admitting to driving drunk in 2012.
Bobbi Kristina Brown was hospitalized twice with anxiety after her mother's death.
