'Batman v Superman' movie release date, cast news: Ben Affleck says his Batman is 'broken'; Green Lantern to appear in film?
Henry Cavill (Superman) and Ben Affleck (Batman) showed up at the NBA All-Star Game Pre-Show on Sunday, Feb. 14, to promote their upcoming superhero film "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice."
While there, Affleck, who will make his debut as Batman in the Zack Snyder-helmed film, was asked by the TNT panel hosts what it was like playing the iconic superhero. The actor answered, "It was very intimidating." He went on to explain that though the task seemed daunting, he tried to take comfort in the fact that his version of the Dark Knight is vey different from those of others in the superhero's long cinematic history.
"He's a little over the hill—broken," Affleck said. "He's kind of given up. And when Superman shows up he's like so powerful that he threatens everything that Batman kind of believes in, and it leads to this conflict. So it wasn't like I had to play Batman in his prime, so that was at least the excuse that I told myself."
Meanwhile, there are persistent rumors that another DC Comics superhero will appear in the film. Aside from Wonder Woman (Gal Gadot), Cyborg (Ray Fisher), Aquaman (Jason Momoa), and The Flash (Ezra Miller), Green Lantern aka Hal Jordan is also supposedly making his DC Extended Universe debut in "Batman v Superman."
"Younger" actor Dan Amboyer, who is on the "Batman v Superman" IMDb page cast list as "Drone Pilot," is currently the center of speculation regarding the rumored addition to the forthcoming film's cast. According to POPSUGAR, Amboyer will actually be playing the role of a certain Lieutenant Christie, who may or may not be the Green Lantern.
The website recently caught up with Amboyer, who said that he's not sure how the "Drone Pilot" role got on the film's IMDb page. Though the actor mostly kept quiet about his "Batman v Superman" character, the 30-year-old actor did manage to drop a hint or two.
When asked if his character's name has already been released, Amboyer answered: "Oh, yes. It does appear, but it's kind of an undercover thing."
"The name appears on me at one point," he teased.
As a parting question, Amboyer was also asked what his favorite color is. The actor, perhaps tellingly, answered: "Blue. Definitely blue, but I appreciate nature as well and everything green."
Zack Snyder's "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" hits theaters on March 25.
