'Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice' release date latest news: Film 'pretty much done,' director reveals
With only a few weeks left before its much-anticipated release, "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" is practically complete, its director has revealed.
Zack Snyder, who helmed the film, was the special guest in Friday's Hall of Justice podcast. During the interview, the "Batman v Superman" director talked about the upcoming DC superhero clash film and recalled the fan reactions to "Man of Steel" (2013), which he also directed.
"We're pretty much done," Snyder said. "I mean there are a few things, a few 3D shots coming in that we are approving and things like that. I'd say the movie is 90 percent, 99.9 percent done. And really at this point we're just fine tuning the final details while we get 'Justice League' ready."
"Batman v Superman" marks the first time that the two iconic DC superheroes will be on the big screen at the same time. In the film, Batman (Ben Affleck), fearing a repeat of the aftermath of Superman's (Henry Cavill) battle with General Zod (Michael Shannon), takes on the Man of Steel. Meanwhile, a new, bigger threat rises and threatens mankind.
As for those who said that Snyder "changed" Superman in the 2013 film, the director had a simple explanation. According to him, comic book fans as well as those who know the true canon know that he didn't change Superman. But, he said, those who are fans of the old "Superman" movies also know that he did change the superhero, but just a bit.
"I'm a bit of a comic book fan and I always default to the true canon," Snyder explained. "Not the cinematic canon that sort of, that in my opinion, plays fast and loose with the rules." Snyder also said that he had tried to create a Superman "that would set a tone for the world."
"Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" hits movie theaters on March 25.
