Android 6.0.1 update for Samsung Galaxy Note 5 news: New features, more emojis
In October last year, Google announced the release of Android 6.0 Marshmallow. Four months later, Samsung started updating Galaxy S6 and Galaxy 6S edge. More recently, more specific details were reported for the Samsung Galaxy Note 5.
The Samsung Galaxy Note 5 (SM-N920C) update is rumored to be out in Cambodia right now. In a report by SamMobile, it started after the announcement of the update to the other Galaxy phones. It is reportedly available through the Samsung Smart Switch and the site's firmware database, an option for those who still don't have the new update available in their phones.
The same website also posted photos of a Samsung Galaxy Note 5 running on Android 6.0.1, adding that the person who leaked it to them didn't say if it is the final version. The changes are, however, evident in the pictures.
Gotta Be Mobile also shared details about the update on a Samsung Galaxy Note 5, which include new features and bug fixes.
In terms of features, Android Senior Vice President Hiroshi Lockheimer teased in December that Nexus will be having an emoji upgrade together with the default keyboard, without the use of any third-party app. Rumor has it that this will be in all Android phones soon.
Android also revealed that the update has the fastest shortcuts and it allows users to make use of their devices more, given the update in the battery life. They're also introducing the fingerprint feature that allows users to open the device without using any kind of password. Android users are also given more freedom by being in control of what permissions to turn on or off.
In North America, the following have confirmed the release of the update on the Samsung Galaxy Note 5: T-Mobile; AT&T, which will be having the update on beta mode; and Telus, which provided a confirming software update for March 9.
