'America's Next Top Model' Cycle 23 renewed, release date update: Reality show to return on VH1 network
Almost 3 months after its last episode, it was announced that "America's Next Top Model" will move on to Cycle 23 on VH1.
Rumors circulated sometime in January that VH1 will be picking up the series from The CW and now, all speculations have been confirmed. VH1 announced the "fierce-a-fied rebirth" of the show via Twitter post. Cycle 23 is a go.
Quoted from the press release of VH1, General Manager Chris McCarthy said, "We're thrilled to bring 'America's Next Top Model' back to VH1 and partner with CBS Television Distribution and Tyra Banks to reinvent this franchise for a whole new generation. This is a homecoming for the series, as VH1 helped catapult the show to cultural icon status as the first cable network to air the show after it launched."
Model Tyra Banks will not host the show but will continue to be the executive producer together with Ken Mok. In a statement, she said that she will be focusing her attention on new business endeavors. A new host will be chosen with a new panel.
Banks further said, "Top Model fans, you demanded that the show come back, and VH1 answered the call. Get ready for a fierce-a-fied rebirth!"
Back in October 2014, Deadline announced that The CW did not renew the longest-running broadcast reality series for a new season after 12 years of being on air. Banks also confirmed the cancellation of the show in what was probably the last "Tyra Mail."
Fans were saddened by this news, but no longer. Cycle 23 will have 14 episodes with an all new host and set of judges
