Amanda Knox Case Latest News Update: Knox Engaged, Will Get Married In Near Future
Amanda Knox, an American woman who was convicted in Italy for allegedly mudering her British flatmate, is to get married to her current boyfriend soon.
According to a report on the BBC website, the 27-year-old Knox was recently engaged to Colin Sutherland, a 27-year-old rock musician whom she has known since her middle school days.
A separate report posted on the website of The Seattle Times said no date has been set yet for wedding, but people who know Know in the place where she lives are giving the murder convict smiles and congratulations on her engagement.
The columnist who posted the report, Jonathan Martin, said Knox confirmed her engagement in an email, after a source close to her family disclosed that she is getting married soon.
Knox, currently a reporter for The West Seattle Herald, declined to give any further details on her engagement. She is known to have lived a low-profile life in her hometown, West Seattle, after her conviction.
Knox is accused of killing her flatmate, British student Meredith Kercher, in the Italian town of Perugia in November 2007.
Kercher, 21, was found dead in her bedroom in her flat more than seven years ago. She was then a foreign exchange student at the University of Perugia
Knox's Italian ex-boyfriend, Raffaele Sollecito, was her co-accused in the Kercher murder case.
In 2009, Knox and Sollecito were found guilty of murder. This conviction, however, was later quashed due to the supposed contamination of forensic evidence for the crime.
The prosecutors appealed the junking of the cases. Last year, an Italian court upheld the original guilty verdict against the former lovers. The case was then elevated to the Italian Case of Cassation.
