Winds of Winter Release Date, Plot News: 'Game of Thrones' Author Makes Excerpt From New Book Available
Fans of the epic book series 'A Song of Fire and Ice,' which is the basis of the popular television show 'Game of Thrones,' have been eagerly awaiting the release of the next book, entitled 'The Winds of Winter.'
Recently, the author of the popular series, George R.R. Martin, gave his fans a taste of his upcoming book by releasing excerpts on his official website.
The excerpts focuses on Sansa Stark, one of the orphaned daughters of Ned and Catelyn Stark.
The excerpts Martin released were entitled "Alayne," which is the alias Sansa used while living in the vale with Lord Petyr Baelish, also known as Littlefinger.
The new chapter is the first Sansa chapter Martin has released in over a decade. The last time Martin released a chapter from Sansa's point of view was in 2005, in the book "A Feast For Crows."
Martin earlier released other excerpts from "The Winds of Winter" from the points of view of Theon, Tyrion and Arya.
Although "The Winds of Winter" does not have a release date yet, Martin said in an interview with Entertainment Weekly that he is determined to finish the new book.
In fact, the author will not write episodes for the fifth and sixth seasons of "Game of Thrones" to be able to finish "The Winds of Winter."
The fifth season of "Game of Thrones" premiered on HBO April 12, 2015.
