University bans Christian fraternity

TURLOCK, Calif. (Christian Examiner) -- The Chi Alpha fraternity has been kicked off campus.

They were not punished for wild parties or crooning racially offensive songs. They were not caught taking liberties with young ladies. Nothing scandalous. Nothing like that. No, no, no.

They were kicked off the Cal State University Stanislaus campus because of Jesus.

Chi Alpha is a Christian fraternity. They've been on campus 40 years and for all of those years, they've mandated that their leaders to be Christians.

On face value, that seems to be fairly reasonable.

But Cal State says that is discriminatory. They've even codified it - CSU Executive Order 1068, which forbids discrimination on the basis of race, religion, national origin and so forth and so on. Under their reading of the rule, the university says Christian groups requiring their leaders to be Christian is discrimination.

Using the university's logic, that means the men's basketball team is guilty of discrimination, too. And so is every sorority on campus.

Sounds to me like Cal State has stepped into a steaming pile of anti-Christian, religious bigotry.
