SPECIAL REPORT: Commemorating the birthday of Martin Luther King Jr. 2015
ATLANTA (Christian Examiner) -- Christian Examiner presents a special package of news stories about and related to Martin Luther King Jr., the famed civil rights leader who was born January 15, 1929 and who was assassinated April 4, 1968.
Rev. King was born in Atlanta, Georgia, as Michael King Jr. to Michael King Sr., and Alberta Williams King. His father had adopted the name Martin Luther King Sr., to honor German Protestant religious leader Martin Luther, according to his biography, something King Jr. later himself did.
King was killed in Memphis, Tennessee.
