'Resident Evil 4,' 'Resident Evil 5,' 'Resident Evil 6' news: Remastered versions to come out this year; remake of 'Resident Evil 2' also in the works
Capcom is bringing back "Resident Evil 4," "Resident Evil 5" and "Resident Evil 6" in remastered versions for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
The remake of both "Resident Evil" and "Resident Evil 0" in 2002 were successful endeavors, and now, Capcom plans to release more remakes from the famous video game series. This year, the Japanese game developer and publisher announced the return of three of the biggest hits in the franchise.
According to Capcom, the games won't come out in chronological order. Instead, "Resident Evil 6" will be the first one to be released on March 29. In summer, "Resident Evil 5" will follow while "Resident Evil 4" will arrive in fall this year.
"Resident Evil 6" has four campaigns (Leon S. Kennedy and Helena Harper; Chris Redfield and Piers; Jake Muller and Sherry Birkin; and Ada Wong and Agent) linked with one another. Apart from enjoying these campaigns, the upcoming remastered version will also come with the downloadable contents and costumes that came out after the release of the original game.
Moreoever, the Japanese developer also confirmed the remake of "Resident Evil 2" to mark the 20th anniversary since "Resident Evil" was first released.
Motion capture engineer and producer Yoshiaki "H" Hirabyashi announced the remake of "Resident Evil 2" in a video, saying, "We at R&D Division 1 will do our best to take on your feedback and deliver the gameplay experience you've been waiting for."
"Resident Evil 4," "Resident Evil 5" and "Resident Evil 6" will be available for purchase for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One consoles for $19.99 each. Capcom also announced that a physical disc will be available in the Americas.
