'Orphan Black' Season 3 spoilers, plot rumors: Series returns with more surprises in third season
Canadian science-fiction television series "Orphan Black" returned recently for its third season with more surprises, and more threats to the show's well-loved clones.
The first episode of Season 3, entitled "The Weight of Combination," started off from where the second season left off. After a quirky dream sequence involving the clones, Helena was shown inside a box, kidnapped by military elements from Project Castor.
As pointed out by IGN.com, the Season 3 premiere focused on the struggle between lead clone Sarah and Dr. Delphine Cormier, who is now the head of the Dyad Institute.
Delphine replaced pro-clone Rachel, who is still recovering after Sarah stabbed her eye with a pencil during the Season 2 finale.
In the Season 3 premiere, Rachel and Delphine had to contend with a new character, named Ferdinand (James Frain), an official of shadow corporation Topside who wanted to meet the bedridden Rachel.
In one of the season premiere's highlights, Sarah had to pretend to be Rachel, and soccer mom clone Alison, had to act like she was Sarah.
As IGN correctly stated, the clone switcheroo showed actress Tatiana Maslany's acting range.
"It's one thing to play half the ensemble and make us forget we're watching the same person; it's quite another to play those characters playing the other characters," IGN said in its recap of the "Orphan Black" Season 3 premiere.
Aside from these events, the new season will also feature prominently the aggressive male clones, played by Ari Millen. So far, two male clones from Project Castor have been introduced: unstable Rudy, who was imprisoned, and Seth, who had to kill the guards to free his fellow clone.
