'Orange Is The New Black' Season 3 release date, cast news: Netflix series returning June 2015, some big casting shake-ups
Emmy Award-winning American crime comedy-drama series "Orange Is The New Black" will return this summer for its third season, with some shake up in the casting.
According to an article on cinemablend.com, the new season of the Netflix original series is likely to debut sometime in June, since the second season of the show premiered in the same month last year. Netflix, however, has yet to announce an official return date for "Orange Is The New Black."
While details on the season premiere date remains scarce, news about the casting for the new season have been made public. One of the biggest changes in the casting involve Jason Biggs, who will no longer return for the upcoming season.
Biggs played Larry, the ex-fiance of the show's main protagonist, Piper (Taylor Schilling). At the end of the second season, Bigg's character entered into a relationship with Piper's best friend.
In an interview with The New York Daily News, Biggs said the show's executives "are not focusing on Larry at the moment," but said that his character "can come back" in future seasons.
With Biggs' exit, the show will introduce new characters. Veteran actress Mary Steenburgen, for instance, will join the new season of "Orange Is The New Black" to play the mother of former corrections officer, George Mendez (played by Pablo Schreiber), popularly known as "Pornstache."
Schreiber himself however told Vulture that his character will not be seen much in the upcoming season.
New cast members also include Mike Birbiglia and Ruby Rose, whose roles have yet to be announced.
