Minister miraculously survives shooting in church parking lot at point-blank range
SAN DIEGO (Christian Examiner) -- A minister was shot while sitting in the parking lot of a Pentecostal church in Grant Hill, California, according to reports. Although the gunman fired four rounds into the car, the minister was only grazed and is expected to survive.
The minister who survived the shooting was talking with another church leader in the parking lot of the Greater Apostolic Faith Temple Church Sunday evening, police said. The shooter came up to the vehicle on foot and fired four times into the passenger side window.
"One of the bullets grazed the passenger's chest and went into his arm," San Diego police officer Robert Heims told San Diego 6 news.
The gunman abandoned the weapon at the site and it was later found by investigators.
Incredibly, the ministers, whose names have not been released, were not seriously injured by the attack at point blank range. The church leader who was injured was taken to UCSD Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.
The suspect was last seen running from the scene of the shooting. He was described as an African-American in his 20s, about 5-foot-10, 160 pounds and a thin build. At the time of the shooting he was wearing a black baseball cap and black clothing.
The shooter's motive is still under investigation.
