Joey Feek cancer battle news: Joey Rory had romantic day and the gift of 'perspective'

Joey Feek of the country singing duo Joey+Rory is still battling with cancer, and her husband Rory's endearing support has been very helpful.

Rory shared that he and his wife had a "romantic night filled with more love for each other than we even thought was possible," hence he titled his blog post "A Week to Remember."

To celebrate Valentine's Day, Rory prepared a special surprise dinner for Joey. Since his wife's favorite is sushi, he bought some rolls for their candle-lit dinner. Joey's sisters made the dinner date more special by helping her dress up and have her dolled up with some make-up. To complete the romantic evening, Joey requested her husband to cuddle up with her in bed. Rory lovingly granted her request and he held her in his arms for "one sweet hour." 

The singing duo was recently nominated at the Grammy Awards and Rory described it to be "surreal." They watched the show together at home, and waited until that time when the winner for their category was announced. Unfortunately, they did not win the trophy, but from his blog, Rory mentioned something triumphant about the nomination that is really heart-warming.

He said, "I've said before that just being nominated is enough. But after having more time to think about it....that's not actually true. Instead, I would say that just being able to wake up and look into the eyes of the people we care about and tell them that we love them is enough. Everything else is just icing on the cake." 

Having said that, it shows that his focus in life has turned into those things that really matter. He fully understands the precious gift of breath of life each morning he wakes up with his wife, who is currently fighting to get an extended breath.

Rory even said, "The truth is, God has blessed us with the gift of something even bigger than a Grammy award this year."

Rory refers to it as the gift of "perspective."
