'House of Cards' season 4 release date, plot spoilers: Frank and Claire face off in new teaser
While the previous trailers for Netflix's popular political thriller "House of Cards" focused on fictional U.S. President Frank Underwood's (Kevin Spacey) re-election campaign and past misdeeds, the latest teaser for the show's upcoming fourth season puts Underwood's relationship with his wife, Claire (Robin Wright), in the spotlight.
The new trailer is an action-packed sequence featuring violence, sex, blood, police raids, prison, Congress, and, of course, Frank's campaign. But the most significant element of the teaser is Frank and Claire's visible animosity toward each other. As fans of "House of Cards" know, Claire dropped a major bomb in the show's season 3 finale, telling Frank that she intends to leave him.
Will Frank try to win Claire back? Or will he bring her down with him? As the teaser hints, Frank and Claire's separation will be a major focus of the forthcoming season.
"You have no idea what it means to have nothing," Frank says in the new promo clip. "You don't value what we have achieved. I have had to fight for everything my entire life!"
After a montage of scenes, Claire says, "I saw a future, our future."
"We had a future until you started destroying it," Frank says in a menacing tone.
Meanwhile, the footage also reveals clues to what roles previously-announced guest stars Joel Kinnaman and Neve Campbell will play in season 4. It also gives fans a peek at actresses Ellyn Burstyn and Cicely Tyson, both of whom were in the confirmed cast list released on Wednesday.
"House of Cards" season 4 also stars Michael Kelly as Doug Stamper, Mahershala Ali as Remy Danton, Jayne Atkinson as Cathy Durant, Nathan Darrow as Edward Meechum, Kim Dickens as Kate Baldwin, Derek Cecil as Seth Grayson, Paul Sparks as Thomas Yates, Elizabeth Marvel as Heather Dunbar, and Molly Parker as Jackie Sharp.
The fourth season of "House of Cards" premieres on Friday, March 4, on Netflix, with all season 4 episodes dropping at once.
