'Glee' Season 6 Finale Spoilers, Plot News: Final Episode Air Date on March 20
After six seasons spanning the past six years, Golden Globe Award-winning musical comedy television series "Glee" will air its final episode this coming March 20.
The two-hour finale, which will be the show's 120th and 121st episodes, will be entitled "2009" and "Dreams Come True," respectively.
According to the MTV website, Glee's second to the last episode will be flashing back to the year 2009, when the show aired its first episode.
This episode will reportedly focus on the back stories of the show's main choir, New Directions, before they joined the Glee club.
TVLine.com has also dropped several hints on how the "2009" episode will go. According to the website, two of the show's main stars, Lea Michele (who plays diva Rachel Berry), and Chris Colfer (who plays openly gay soprano Kurt Hummel) will do a musical number from the broadway play "Wicked" during the finale's opening hour.
Amber Riley, who plays the show's power belter Mercedes Jones, will meanwhile reportedly deliver a riveting performance of a Gospel song.
As the title suggests, the "2009" episode will generally have a throwback vibe, with some characters fans haven't seen in a long time returning. For instance, Jessalyn Gilsig, who plays the wife of Glee Club coach William Schuester (Matthew Morrison), is set to return to the show for the finale.
Time indicators such as early social media site MySpace and Blockbuster, will also be mentioned in the finale.
A separate report by Entertainment Weekly meanwhile said that the finale will also feature an emotional tribute to the show's late cast member, Cory Monteith, who tragically passed away in 2013.
