Mark your calendars: the eighth movie in the "Fast and Furious" franchise will hit big screens all over the world on April 14, 2017.

One of the movie's lead actors, Vin Diesel, made this announcement during Universal Picture's CinemaCon presentation this week.

In revealing the release date for "Fast and Furious 8," Diesel also promised the next movie to be even better than the seven others.

"We're going to make the best movie you've ever seen," the actor said, as quoted in a report posted on the CNN website.

The official release date of "Fast and Furious 8" was revealed weeks after the commercial success of "Fast and Furious 7."

The franchise's seventh release broke box office records worldwide, grossing some $1.2 billion worldwide, according to The Los Angeles Times.

"Fast and Furious 7" raked in $307 million in the United States, the LA Times reported.

The latest movie bade an emotional farewell to lead actor Paul Walker, who died in a car crash while "Fast and Furious 7" was filming.

The International Business Times meanwhile reported that Kurt Russell hinted at a bigger role in "Fast and Furious 8." Russell made his first appearance in the franchise in the seventh movie, as the character Mr. Nobody.

"I got an idea, a sense of what Vin maybe wants to do in the future that this character could be a good part of," Russel said in The Jimmy Kimmel Live show.

The eight "Fast and Furious" film will reportedly take place mostly in New York City.
