NBC to air a Noah's Ark series -- set in space?

LOS ANGELES (Christian Examiner) – NBC is planning to air a series based on the biblical story of Noah's Ark, but it's not the one you've read about in Scripture.

The new series, called simply "The Ark," will be set in space and produced by Robert Zemeckis, who produced Cast Away and The Polar Express and wrote the Back to the Future series.

NBC, in a press release, said the series will be a "grounded, modern retelling of the Noah's Ark story from the Bible; after the death of his wife, an engineer has a vision to construct a ship capable of sustaining life in space. When the build happens to coincide with the coming end of the world, the engineer realizes there may be a larger story at play."

Daniel Kunka (12 Rounds) wrote the script, according to Entertainment Weekly.

NBC has not set an air date for the series.
